El Sueñito (pronounced sweˈnito) means "the little dream" in Spanish. What started as a little dream has blossomed into something bigger. From our first tamales in Seattle to our breweries in Bellingham and Seattle, El Sueñito celebrates the intersection of cultures, craft, and community. We pour our Mexican heritage, PNW spirit, and passion for great beer into everything we do.

No one is ever just one thing, and neither are we. We create spaces where stories are shared, friendships are forged, and dreams take flight. It’s very obvious when you see a mariquita (🐞) around. Here are two of our favorites in these photos 🤭 This delightful, not horrifying one bit, self-portrait is a reminder that our red ale, Mariquita, is back!

Our Red Ale, Mariquita, is a tonic against the bitter grey winters of the Pacific Northwest. It’s an amber ray of toasted malt sunshine, crafted to pierce the gloom and warm the soul. With notes of toasted bread, biscuit, caramel, and citrus, you’ll forget the winter ever existed.

Mariquita means ladybug 🐞 in Spanish and we chose this name for two reasons:

(1) We wanted a cute red animal to be on the beer label for this red ale and many agree that ladybugs are a very cute insect.

(2) Mariquita is a term that has been historically used as a slur against the gay community in Mexico and Latin America. But in the last two decades, the gay community has reclaimed the slur to make it a rallying call for justice for the LGBTQA+ community and has become a term of endearment within the queer community.

As we continue to share our lived experience as a gay-owned brewery, we found this name fitting to remind us all that the movement for justice and rights for our queer community is far from over and to celebrate the spaces and things that have been reclaimed by queer folks.

Mariquita Red Ale is now available on draft and in six packs at both of our taprooms in Sunnyland-Bellingham and Fremont-Seattle.

What do you have hope for? Even in days when we feel a deep sense of anger, disappointment and hurt. Even in days when we think there is no hope; when we feel lost, scared and alone; when we feel invisible. Even in days when we feel powerless. Even in those days, we must stand together, do some self-care to heal & continue the work that’s ahead of us.

We must find refuge in the good that exists around us, because even in days like today, good does exist. It might be harder to find it but it’s there. Keep in mind that our lived experiences are different. Our varying intersectionalities make us all unique. It also makes today feel different for everyone. What’s at stake for you, might not be the same for others. Expect different reactions. Expect different healing journeys. Expect different emotions & different needs.

A movement for a more inclusive future has never been easy. Has never been painless. Has never been short. The movement towards a more inclusive country must not end. We can take a break. Take a break. Take as long as you need. Let others help with the weight. Let’s take time to reflect, heal, gather and hug each other and continue the work that needs to be done so we can have a more just and inclusive country. The journey will be long, but I have hope for what we have done and what we can do. And if you feel like you can lift more than what you have done in the last, step up, take weight off others who live day to day carrying a bigger weight just because of who they are.

¡Feliz día de los muertos! 💀💐 We wish everyone a very meaningful and joyful Day of the Dead to everyone who celebrates their ancestors and loved ones who are no longer physically with us.

To celebrate this important Mexican holiday, we are releasing our annual special beer Dulce Muerte (Sweet Death), a collaboration project with our neighbors at @kulshanbrewery.

Dulce Muerte is our dark and sultry offering to those who have come and gone before us. This decadent horchata milk stout offers rich, subtly sweet malt notes, and whispers of Mexican cinnamon and vanilla flavors that celebrate the traditions we cherish, and the people we love.

When the very steamy chisme doesn’t stop even when graining out after a long day of brewing 🍻 Remember folks, chisme has no room in the workplace……..🫣🫠

Head Brewer Dennis has had a busy last few weeks brewing a lot of beer to fill two new tanks we got delivered last month. We recently added two new brite tanks that will allow us to maintain stable production and reduce the number of times we run out of some of our flagship beers like our Alebrijes Mexican Lager. Our limited tank space provided us with a fun challenge that was making it hard to keep up with our wholesale and taproom demand. It was a wonderful problem to have.

All tanks will be full this week especially after we brew our seasonal collaboration beer with @kulshanbrewery, Dulce Muerte, our Día de los 🌸🌺 Muertos ☠️💀 Horchata Milk Stout that you’ve come to love. This beer will be out in time for Halloween and Day of the Dead in November. We will be using @reyamargo_us Mexican chocolate for this brew like we did last year on top of Mexican vanilla and cinnamon.

We are no strangers to dreaming big & believing in your dreams, after all El Sueñito was born from a little dream 🌙 of ours.

This country is powered by dreamers, from the single parents who have to work extra night shifts to pay for basic necessities to the young adults working through their apprenticeships to find better paying jobs, to the bartenders working those customer service skills to make ends meet, to the farm workers who move from state to state looking for the next farm job, to the immigrants who are the backbone of our agricultural industry in this country.

For all the migrant & immigrant laborers who work the fields through arduous and often unthinkable working conditions, we decided to brew our second & last fresh hop beer to celebrate them. As a nod to their dreamer spirits and to elevate the contributions they make to the craft beer industry on and off the hop fields.

Introducing Sueños del Campo (Dreams from the Fields) | Fresh Hop Hazy IPA | 6.5% ABV. Featuring Cashmere in the brew & dry-hopped with El Dorado hops, this beer gives vibrant notes of juicy mango and citrus flavors. It’s a must have this fresh hop season especially if you like those hazy IPAs.

Sunnyland Fest is here! We are kicking off Sunnyland Fest with a very special release: Ancestors’ Dreams | Vienna Lager | 4.9% ABV | Now available at both Métier & Sueñito taprooms on draft and cans to-go.

Ancestors’ Dreams is a collaboration project with our friends at @metierbrewing, Washington’s first Black & gay-owned brewery. We got together for a 2nd year to brew a Vienna Lager that provides a malty sweetness and a smooth clean finish. A beer with a captivating copper hue that is well-balanced offering toasted bread and caramel aromas and hints of biscuit and a subtle touch of honey.

Regardless of who we are and where we come from, we all know of a trailblazer who helped lay the foundation for a better future for all of us. This beer was brewed to honor & celebrate the positive contributions and lasting impact made by those that came before us especially BIPOC and queer ancestors who through the sacrifice of their labor and often lives helped make this world a little better for the rest of us.

Cheers to the movements and the people behind them that have given us a more free and inclusive world.
