A BREWERY IS MORE THAN JUST GOOD BEER.
IT'S ABOUT COMMUNITY.
There are hundreds of independent breweries across Washington state, each with its own story. While we might be another stop on your beer crawl list, our mission goes beyond brewing great-tasting beer. We're here to create connections and celebrate diversity.
Our journey began in 2015 when we, Dennis and Osbaldo, opened Frelard Tamales in Seattle. As an interracial queer couple with a passion for craft beer and Mexican cuisine, we dreamed of creating a space where these worlds could beautifully collide. In 2022, that dream became El Sueñito Brewing in Bellingham, and now we've expanded to Seattle, bringing our unique flavor to two vibrant communities.
Since day one, our business values have been rooted in three important anchors: building community, remaining humble, and celebrating culture. We're not just new breweries in town; we're bringing years of experience and a fresh perspective to the industry.
We look forward to sharing more about our little dream, our vision and mission, and how we hope to challenge the status quo. Dreamers like you and us need to not settle for what is easy, but for what is meaningful and intentional.
We're excited to be part of the growing Bellingham, Whatcom, and Seattle communities. Whether you join us up north or in the heart of the city, we look forward to raising a glass with you soon!

OUR VALUES
1.
COMMUNITY-CENTERED
We are committed to building community by being one with community. We use our business platforms to elevate stories that highlight important work happening in the community and we partner with other small businesses to elevate each other through business collaborations.
We sponsor and donate to causes important to us, especially in the areas of immigrant justice, LGBTQ+ advocacy & health, and environmental stewardship.
2.
HUMILITY & RESPECT
We recognize that the fruits that have grown from the business have been possible thanks to our amazing team, our loyal customers, our friends, and family.
We know that without a strong, healthy staff and a healthy community, we cannot have a healthy business. Humility, respect and empathy for others informs our business decisions to make sure we honor what everyone has contributed to our success.
3.
WE CELEBRATE CULTURE
We intentionally create space for community so they can gather and celebrate life’s smallest and biggest moments. We elevate and support important celebrations honoring community including queer & BIPOC folks.
As an interracial couple, we embrace our gay and Mestizo/Mexican identities to highlight issues affecting our communities. We firmly believe in bringing people together through food & culture because food is one of the world’s universal languages.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE FOUNDERS
Dennis grew up in Seattle and has lived in Ballard his entire life. After working for over seven years as a Cancer Research Scientist, Dennis decided to pursue a career in brewing. He completed his Master Brewer Certificate from UC Davis and worked at Hellbent Brewing as a brewer. He is an avid skier but first learned to snowboard as a young teenager. He loves to backpack and long bike rides in the summer days in the PNW.
Osbaldo was born in Mexico and moved to the U.S. at the age of 11. He is a former high school teacher who worked in three different school districts with unhoused students and families. Osbaldo was undocumented for over nine years before becoming a citizen after going through a long and painful immigration process. He loves to camp and backpack during the summer months and enjoys brewery hopping with his favorite people.
Dennis and Osbaldo are proud parents of two dogs who demand more attention than the business itself.
